讲座摘要: Therapeutic advances in vascular disease may have far-reaching public benefits. Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are emerging as essential regulators of the vasculature, important in disorders such as arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). We recently found that lack of Matrix Gla protein (MGP), which is one of the inhibitors of BMPs, caused AVMs in multiple organs. Because MGP was showed as an inhibitor of arterial calcification, it became a factor that caused both AVMs and arterial calcification. Working on MGP and BMP as inhibitor and activator, we explore the possibility of modeling establishment of vasculature and other branched structures in organ formation and formation of abnormality.
