报告题目：Internet Sensing: Challenges and Opportunities

报告摘要：
The term Internet Sensing is used to describe embedded sensing devices with Internet connectivity, allowing them to interact with each other, services, and people on a global scale. This level of connectivity can increase reliability, sustainability, and efficiency by improved access to information. Environmental monitoring, home and building automation, and smart grids could be interconnected, allowing information to be shared between systems. One day, internet will connect everyone to everything of everywhere at every time and will be the backbone of business operations, but there is still a long way to go.The seminar consists of two parts. In the first part, the sensing related research activities of the S2IS group (Smart Sensing and Intelligent Systems) of current and recent past will be presented. In the second part, an overview of internet sensing will be described.This seminar will present the challenges and opportunities of making the Internet Sensing feasible in the coming years.

个人简介：
Dr. Subhas Chandra Mukhopadhyay is working as a Professor of Sensing Technology, Massey University, New Zealand. His fields of interest include Smart Sensors and sensing technology, instrumentation techniques, wireless sensors and network, numerical field calculation, electromagnetics etc. He has supervised over 30 postgraduate students and over 75 Honours students. He has examined over 40 postgraduate theses.He has published over 300 papers in different international journals and conference proceedings, written four books and thirty book chapters and edited Eleven conference proceedings. He has also edited twenty books with Springer-Verlag and Eleven journal special issues. He has organized over 20 international conferences as either General Chairs/co-chairs or Technical Programme Chair. He has delivered 216 presentations including keynote, invited, tutorial and special lectures.He is a Fellow of IEEE (USA), a Fellow of IET (UK), a Fellow of IETE (India), a Topical Editor of IEEE Sensors journal, an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurements, and a Technical Editor of IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics. He was a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Sensors Council from 2010 to 2013.
